India preparing to release final DPDPA rules in August

The Indian government is preparing to release the final draft of the proposed rules under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) in the second or third week of August, according to a report in The Economic Times. Once published 

A senior government official confirmed that "extensive consultations" will follow once the DPDPA rules are published. The official went on to say, "Our approach has been very measured and we have kept the text (of the rules) very simple. The idea is not to disrupt anything."
