FCDO leaks personal data on Afghan teacher in hiding from Taliban

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has notified an Afghan teacher about a data breach, which resulted in his personal information being mistakenly sent to another person. The leak is the first known breach under the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS), which prioritises vulnerable people, including individuals who have assisted the UK in Afghanistan. Anyone seeking to apply for UK transfer through the ACRS must complete an expression of interest form. Unfortunately, the details of this form, which include the applicant's family, were leaked to another Afghan citizen. The FCDO has reported the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
