An investigation by the Observer revealed the extent of UK gambling websites that covertly track visitors and share their data with Meta, Facebook's parent company, without user consent. The practice involves placing a hidden tracking tool, known as a Meta pixel, on dozens of gambling sites, which extracts visitor data, including viewed webpages and clicks and sends it to Meta. Out of 150 gambling sites tested, the Observer found 52 sites automatically shared data via the Meta Pixel without obtaining consent.
