Google and Apple block NHS Covid app update over privacy issues

The latest NHS COVID-19 app update has been delayed by Ministers because of data-sharing issues that violate Google and Apple terms of use. The planned update would have asked users for permission to share user check-in data if they tested positive for COVID-19. The update was blocked because location tracking is prohibited. Scotland proceeded with a similar plan because it launched a new app, Check In Scotland, separate from the contact-tracing app.
