Mental health support line Shout criticised for sharing data

Shout the mental health support service has given millions of messages from children under 13 and other vulnerable people to third-party researchers despite initially stating it would never do so. Previously, its online FAQ section said that while high level, anonymised and aggregated data would be passed to trusted partners for academic research, “individual conversations cannot and will not ever be shared”. However, that commitment was removed last year, resulting in millions of messages being shared with researchers.
