The NHS ransomware attack targeted against Advanced, a company that provides digital services for NHS 111, occurred at 7 am on Thursday, 04 August. Several services have been affected, including the system used to refer patients, ambulance dispatch, out-of-hours appointments and emergency prescriptions. The National Crime Agency is aware of the incident and is working with the NHS supplier. By Saturday, Ministers were coordinating a response to mitigate the impact, although they conceded that there would be a disruption.
UPDATE: 110822 - The Guardian reports that Advanced is investigating the impacted data to assess whether personal data was accessed or exfiltrated. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has also confirmed it is aware of the incident.
