Apple's now delayed plans would scan images uploaded to its iCloud storage service to detect flagged images of sexual abuse in children, while an anticipated proposal in the EU would detect similar images on encrypted devices. "It should be a national-security priority to resist attempts to spy on and influence law-abiding citizens," the researchers said.
