Swiss data leak exposes secret banking practices

massive leak of Credit Suisse banking information by a whistleblower has exposed the secret wealth of its clients. The leak has shed light on 30,000 accounts totalling £80 billion from clients involved in torture, drug trafficking, money laundering, corruption as well as other serious crimes. The leak highlights a lack of due diligence by Credit Suisse, from which the fallout threatens to damage Switzerland's entire financial sector, with one commentator saying, "Bank privacy laws must not become a pretext to facilitate money laundering and tax evasion."
