Data Protection Commissioner salary should be more than €185,000

An external audit has found the salary of the Irish Data Protection Commissioner should be increased to more than €185,000 per year. The review also found that many DPC staff feel its pay model "may no longer be fit for purpose." According to the research, the current salary structure for the DPC has been in place since 1988, when Ireland's first data protection law was introduced. The scale and responsibilities of the body have since expanded significantly.
