The Data Protection Commission has clashed with several European Data Protection Authorities once again after they objected to its proposal to impose a fine of up to €50 million on WhatsApp for violating privacy laws. This is the second dispute between Helen Dixon and her fellow European counterparts, following a similar row over the amount her office should fine Twitter last year. That case resulted in a €450,000 fine in the first cross-border fine under Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regime.
