A planned update to Microsoft's LinkedIn User Agreement will caution users that content created via its generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be inaccurate or misleading. Furthermore, LinkedIn will make clear that users are responsible for sharing any policy-violating misinformation generated by its AI tools.
The updated passage, effective 20 November 2024, clarifies that while the platform offers features for automating content generation, such generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, misleading, or unsuitable. Users are urged to review and edit such content before sharing, as they are responsible for ensuring compliance with LinkedIn Professional Community Policies, including refraining from sharing misleading information. In essence, LinkedIn will offer automated content generation features, but users must verify and rectify any false information before sharing, as the platform will not be liable for any resulting repercussions.
