Twelve MEPs sign open letter calling for global AI summit

A group of twelve MEPs working on the EU Artificial Intelligence Act have concluded that a complimentary set of rules covering the deployment of large-scale, generative AI systems are required. The MEPs have subsequently signed an open letter calling for the European Commission's President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Joe Biden to "convene a global Summit on Artificial Intelligence and on the democracies of the world to start working on governance models for very powerful AI."
