Always-on smartphone cameras are the next privacy nightmare

Next years android phones could become a privacy nightmare for users if they feature new always-on camera capabilities from the latest snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm. While the chip manufacturer's stated aims are to make using android smartphones easier—in the sense that users won't have to pick up or look directly at the camera to unlock it, surely for anyone who cares about surveillance and privacy, this is a step too far.
