WhatsApp has stepped back from its stated intentions to limit functionality to users who refuse to accept the changes to its updated privacy policy by the 15th of May. Instead of a hard cut-off for noncompliance, WhatsApp will use a phased approach to ensure users accept its policy changes. That approach will include consistent application reminders for a few weeks prior to limited functionality and then a complete loss of functionality. This is the second time the company has backtracked on the deadline to bar users from using the messaging app. Earlier in the year, WhatsApp said that it would explain its privacy policy to users again.
