Information Commissioner discusses enforcement with The Wall Street Journal

11/04/2022 | The Wall Street Journal

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Information Commissioner John Edwards has said that he wants to work with companies investing in new technology, such as artificial intelligence, early in the development process to determine if any legal issues would arise. He added that his office could provide feedback to technology companies "rather than waiting until we come after them after the fact with an investigation and a potential fine." This shift in focus means Mr Edwards would take on a global role and aligns with Government plans to change the UK's privacy regime to focus on fostering innovation.
