Biden issues executive order on digital assets for privacy and security

US President Joe Biden has issued an executive order calling for the responsible development of digital assets. The development of digital assets have “profound implications” in areas such as data privacy and security protections, and without “sufficient oversight and standards,” sensitive financial data protections may be inadequate. “The US should ensure that safeguards are in place and promote the responsible development of digital assets to protect consumers, investors, and businesses; maintain privacy; and shield against arbitrary or unlawful surveillance,” the order said.
