EU and US commit to seeking common principles for data governance

In a joint statement following the first meeting of the EU-US Trade and Tech Council (TTC) on Wednesday, EU and US officials have agreed to work together in order to build a common approach to data governance and setting policies around technology. The United States and European Union committed to coordinate over a set of economic and technology issues and achieve concrete outcomes by the next meeting. The EU-US Trade and Tech Council meeting has been the subject of much debate with many fearing diplomatic issues would prevent an alliance.
