On Thursday, 8 August 2024, the Office of the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner announced that Tony Eastaugh will be stepping down from his role as Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner in mid-August, having only been appointed to the role in a time-limited capacity. The Home Office will announce details concerning the appointment of a new Commissioner and further updates in due course.
