Cabinet Office Clearing House to become FOI Centre of Excellence

26/08/2022 | UK Government

The Cabinet Office has published the outcome of its Freedom of Information (FOI) Clearing House Internal Review. The review includes a series of recommendations, which the Cabinet Office largely accepts. The Clearing House is to be redesigned as an FOI centre of excellence, while each public body will be responsible for its own FOI responses. A revised set of KPIs will be established in order to ensure greater transparency about the FOI process within Government. Requesters should also be informed about how their requests will be dealt with. The practice of sharing of names of requesters within the Round Robin system should cease.

In related news, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) published its October 2021 response to the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee's inquiry into the Cabinet Office Freedom of Information Clearing House.
