Free flow of data central to enhanced UK-Switzerland Trade Agreement

The UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has completed the sixth round of negotiations with Switzerland for an enhanced Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The UK government aims to boost economic growth through this agreement, focusing on securing market access for UK service providers, the seamless flow of data, and stable business travel.

The negotiations prioritise outcomes in services, investment, and digital trade, areas not covered by the existing UK-Swiss FTA. Discussions on digital trade included provisions related to data, source code, and cryptography.
