ICO implements AI tool to manage registration emails

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has confirmed that it is to use a machine-learning algorithm called the Registration Inbox AI to classify emails sent to the ICO's inbox for organisations and sole traders about payments of data protection fees or registration queries. The tool is intended to reduce the workload for DP Fees Officers who often receive high volumes of emails. "To reduce the burden on caseloads and ensure we respond in a timely manner to customers, the ICO, alongside selected third parties, have developed an algorithmic tool that categorises emails that are sent to the inbox and sends out auto-replies in specific cases."
