UK Government 2023 FOI statistics, record low 34% responded in full

The Cabinet Office has published its 2023 Freedom of Information (FOI) annual statistics report. The report, which covers FOI requests and responses by UK government departments and bodies, indicates that the number of received requests has reached an all-time high of 70,475. The total significantly exceeds the range of 44,000-53,000 requests made between 2011-22. The government reports that 81% of those requests were responded to on time, down 5% from the previous year. However, the number of requests granted in full declined to a new low, 34%, down from 39% in 2022.
