UK Government publishes 2022 FOI statistics report

The Cabinet Office has published its 2022 Freedom of Information (FOI) statistics bulletin. The report, which covers FOI requests and responses by UK Government departments and bodies, indicates an increase in received requests, 52,740, up 1,233 compared to 2021, with 86% of those requests being responded on time, down 2% from the previous reporting period. The report also reveals 39% of requests were granted in full, down 1%, while 35% were withheld in full, down 3%.

The i newspaper reporting on the government's annual statistics claims the government is covering up its failures by rejecting over 50% of requests.
