UK reach adequacy agreement in principle with South Korea

The UK has reached an adequacy agreement in principle with South Korea for cross-border data sharing. The bilateral partnership announced by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport will focus on improving data frameworks and comes at a time when both countries are in the process of modifying their data regulation regimes. 

In related news, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MOU recognises their shared dedication to upholding information rights while supporting digital innovation and economic development.
