What to expect in the King's Speech on Wednesday

A press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday, 14 July, outlines what is expected to be included in the incoming Labour government led by Sir Keir Starmer's first legislative agenda. The details of around 35 bills currently included will be revealed on Wednesday in the King's Speech. 

According to the Financial Times (£), the government is understood to be planning to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI) Bill, following through on the party's manifesto pledge to create binding rules to govern the development of the most advanced machine-learning models. Other relevant legislation includes a cyber security Bill to protect critical infrastructure from foreign actors.
