UN privacy rapporteur outlines principles to balance data processing

The United Nations General Assembly, Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy Ana Brian Nougrères, has said in a report that digital technologies processing personal data "in an invasive and large-scale manner" are failing to meet their privacy expectations. The report outlines ten guiding principles that encourage member states to "strike a balance between the different conflicting interests in the processing of personal data and the right to privacy in the global and digital era."
