OECD members divided on government access to personal data

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Committee on Digital Economy Policy has held a meeting to consider government access to personal data held by the private sector. Members from Australia, Canada, Japan, the UK and the US all supported a set of principles giving "obliged access" for law enforcement in order to access data for investigations. The EU wants to give the CDEP more time to "develop draft principles with a broader scope to cover all methods of government access."
