Ukraine invasion highlights need for global data privacy agreement

European officials say that Russia's invasion of Ukraine highlights the need for a global data privacy agreement. European Commission Head of International Data Flows and Protection Bruno Gencarelli said what the invasion shows is a "dividing line" between the countries with privacy regulations and those without that who are prepared to misuse data. He added that "being a like-minded partner probably has more value and weight than even a few months or years ago." European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech WiewiĆ³rowski said, "There is a need for more world-wide convergence."
