Clearview AI has now collected more than 10 billion photos from across the web and is developing new ways to aid police surveillance. In addition, deblur and mask removal tools use machine learning to sharpen and fill in missing details of an image. Director of Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society Jonathan Zittrain questioned the privacy implications, saying, "It is not a great world ... if someone points a camera at you and any photo of you is forevermore linked to your identity."
Privacy International and other campaigners filed a series of legal complaints against Clearview AI with regulators in the UK France, Austria, Greece, and Italy.
