Signal at 10 is more than a secure messaging app

On celebrating the 10th anniversary of the messaging app Signal, Meredith Whittaker, president of the Signal Foundation, is highlighting the nonprofit nature of the platform. Besides being known as the world's most secure communications platform, What began as the merger of encryption apps RedPhone and TextSecure has evolved into a mainstream encrypted communications phenomenon with hundreds of millions of users. Furthermore, Signal's nonprofit, ad-free, and privacy-focused model challenges the Silicon Valley norm, proving that technology can thrive without venture capitalism and surveillance capitalism.
